I am an Appalachian State graduate with a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramic Art. For several years I focused on functional pottery and then began to branch out into the world of sculpture. Concentrating on texture, movement, and form; I use clay to mimic various invertebrate forms to create wall hangings and sculptures. I have participated in shows in northwestern North Carolina; Ten Years of Appalachian State Ceramics and Zeitgeist: BFA Senior Show. I am a member of the Foothills Arts Council in Elkin, NC and a member of the Blue Ridge Artisan Guild.
My work is to honor and pay homage to God’s creations. I feel that if God can give such a simple form a purpose, then what kind of a purpose does He have intended for a more complex organism like me?
Studio address: 641 Conard Shumate rd. Elkin, NC
