My Dad introduced me to photography when I was in grade school and I was hooked. Surrounded by family members with artistic skills, I found the camera to be the instrument that let me do “my thing,” as I envisioned my subjects through the lens the way they would look as a painting. You would say I am a self-taught photographer, and I’m also an “online learning” fan as a school to learn digital image editing. Now that technology has opened newer doors for me, I can spend hours tinkering in the world of digital image editing.

I also had a love of the outdoors, which led my husband and I to hike the trails and paddle our kayaks in many rivers and streams, coves, and salt-water marshes. It takes patience and vigilance to capture the fleeting moment of an animal or bird’s “pose,” and you have to act fast and work through the “excitement of discovery” to capture the beauty of wildlife before it’s gone.

It is no wonder that my photographic interests combined with my love of the outdoors led me to wildlife and landscape photography. My husband says that I find “the thrill of the hunt” for wildlife to be more fun than lining up human subjects to pose as a models, so as a photographer, I seek out wildlife subjects and landscapes on outings that I call “Photo-Safaris.”

Most of our safaris are in the mountains of North Carolina, and the coasts of FL and South Carolina. A variety of my images are sold as limited editions with a certificate of authenticity for quality of printing. You can see a collection of my work at: www.uniquepixeldesigns.com
