Timothy Steven Greene

Wilkes County, NC

Having lived in Wilkes or Watauga counties all my life I was that child that the other school kids persuaded to draw things for...

Blessed to have teachers who saw and nurtured my talents I was encouraged to learn and explain myself through my art. They gave me assignments that allowed me to lean on my visual learning style and their influence helped cement my career as a teacher.

I have an Associates in Fine Art from Wilkes Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education from Appalachian State University. I taught carpentry, furniture making, design and drafting at West Wilkes High School for 19 and am currently teaching art classes at Wilkes Art Gallery and serving on the Board of Directors for the Blue Ridge Artisan Guild.

I work in various mediums but primarily design and build one of a kind furniture, or functional art as I refer to it. My two-dimensional work is usually acrylic on canvas or wood panel as well as pen and ink drawings. I supplement both with the liberal use of the airbrush. My themes range from out of focus works to Biblical stories I adapt to my specific style.

At the core of my artwork is the need to elicit an emotion or gut feeling. I have come to understand that it is my duty to share the skills and talents that my Lord has given me even if there is no financial benefit.
