Born and raised in the Southeast, Kim has always possessed an appreciation for the natural world and a love of the outdoors. Using oil as her medium, much of her work is done En plein air. Whether she is painting in the High Country of North Carolina or the Low Country of South Carolina, the experience of creating art outdoors connects her to the work and allows her to convey a strong sense of place and time. She expands on this experience by using the plein air works, along with sketches and reference photos taken on site, to create larger works in her studio.
Kim is a juried member of Oil Painters of America and Women Painters of the Southeast. She is also a member of the American Impressionist Society and North Carolina Plein Air Painters.
